On Sunday, March 1, 2009, the American Red Cross held a blood drive at the Enfield Mall located in Enfield CT, on Elm Street. Stationed within the mall, Colleen Loveless, a member of the Red Cross helps recruit shoppers from the mall to the "Blood Mobile" in the parking lot. Above, Colleen asks a donor to throw away his chewing gum for proper precaution and protocol of giving blood.
The Johnson Family, Mother-Alison, 30, Father-Christopher, 29, Sam, 3, and Owen, 1, sit on the stoop of their house in Southwick, MA. Being outside and spending time together is a family activity they engage in every day. They are proud to be homeowners as they establish a good place for their children to learn and grow.
As a part of their daily routine, Chris is responsible for waking Sam up. Today he wakes him up with a mini guitar. Sam loved waking up to the sillyness of his dad, starting the day off great.
Owen, on the otherhand, was not happy to be getting ready for daycare as Chris put his socks on. Today was "yellow day" at daycare and Owen was ready with his yellow shirt and hoodie.
Alison helps Sam prepare for daycare as he puts his toy train in the "Show and Tell" box. The box says to put one item in the box but Sam could not resist and put in three.
Every day Alison and Chris bring Sam and Owen to daycare together. It is truely a family affair as they abide by the daycare rules and take their shoes off for Ms. Cindy.
After a long day at work, and daycare for the boys, strenous conversation takes place as Alison and Chris talk about the bills and future planning for college expenses.
Dinner is a time for the family to reunite after a long day of being apart. After a great dinner of Taco Pizza, Chris and Owen play as Chris pretends to chomp off Owen's foot. The giggles in the room were contagious.
After dinner is a time to cut loose! Sam puts on his favorite dress up outfit, his firefighter uniform, and plays by putting out the pretend fire in the kitchen. Chris said, "If we didn't have pizza tonight, he'd be putting out the fire on mom's cooking!"
The boys prepare for bed with a nice warm bath, given by dad. As mom, Alison, states, "It usually gets the boys relaxed and ready to sleep, hopefully through the night!"
The final step in preparing for bedtime; A snack for Owen and a nebulizer for Sam's allergies. No parent wants to wake up to a coughing child in the middle of the night! As the family prepares for sleep, they are greatful and knowing of one thing, that family matters.
